We participated in a recent marketing promotion and received several packages of Smoked Sausage Slammers from Southside Market in Elgin, Texas. You know what they say about Texas and their Barbeque, right? ORDER HERE and get 10% Off your Sitewide Order!

Southside Market and Barbeque has been around since 1886 along with some name changes and different owners through the years. From their humble beginnings selling meats from the back of a truck — to four popular restaurants in Texas, along with a nationwide network of retailers and distributors – all are shipped fresh from their Barbeque Pits to our door.

These Sausages arrived packed in a sealed styrofoam container and packed in dry ice to keep them frozen as well as fresh. Southside Market makes their sausages and other smoked meats fresh and are shipped out within 24 hours nationwide. Much to our surprise we received four packages of the Slammers. Each package contains 3 Sausage Slammers weighing 4.5 ounces each.

Heating Instructions —

Also included is a handy brochure with Heating Instructions for various methods of heating. Method #1 is SMOKE IT! Method #2 is GRILL IT! OR Method #3 is SAUTE’ IT! They also didn’t include Air Fryer Heating and Cooking. Of course, you can always choose your own preferred method.

In case you happen to have an Air Fryer here are some simple Instructions for heating those Pre Cooked Sausages. If you need an Air Fryer you can find a quality one HERE

Set the Air Fryer to 360- 400°F and then cook the sausages until they’re well-browned on the outside and cooked through in the middle if you cut into them. It takes about 8-12 minutes, depending on the thickness of the sausages and how many you have in the basket. These sausages are wrapped in Bacon and loaded with cheese on the inside.

We chose to use Method # 3 : GRILL IT along with fresh grilled Zucchini….The Sausages are best grilled about 10 minutes on each side until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees. We grilled these thinking we could each ( 3 of us) devour two of them for our meal with a side of fresh grilled zucchini. One sausage is very filling and we put aside the extra one for another meal or snack the next day.

It’s the Ingredients —

These Sausage Slammers start with a fresh jalapeño half filled with real cheddar cheese. They then wrap each one in their house-made pork sausage and roll the whole thing up in bacon. Smoked low and slow over real Texas post oak wood, these Sausage Slammers are flavorful enough to be the main course or slice them to serve as an unforgettable appetizer! As a side they are good dipped in Spicy Mustard. I liked it anyway! The jalapeño does have a mild heat and the cheddar melts inside the sausage which gives each bite a nice flavor.

After coming off the grill…
